From mismatched bridesmaids dresses to using disposable cameras for capturing memories, the wedding industry is constantly evolving and exploring creative ways to make the special day even more memorable. We hope we’re not too late to jump on the 2024 wedding trend predictions train, because we spoke with some of our vendor friends and have some great trends mentioned below to watch out for.
For our 2024 Wedding Trends blog, we wanted to hand over the mic to several wedding vendors who are experts at services that we don’t directly offer here at District. We’re not afraid to admit it – we can’t do everything.
We had the pleasure of getting wedding trend insights from a photographer, a cake artist, an entertainment company, a bridal boutique, AND a live painter. Keep reading to see some trends that they expect to continue/begin seeing in 2024.

When it comes to letting your bridal party choose their own dress style, Rachael is in full support and says your photos will thank you for it. With everyone in a dress that they love and feel good in, your photos will turn out better because everyone feels comfortable. She recommends choosing a color or a color palette for them to go by or even inviting them to choose some fun patterns.
Newspaper Announcements
Another trend that Rachael is in full support of is including personalized newspapers in your engagement or wedding photos. She’s had couples use these to share their engagement, for programs at their wedding, or just a fun detail for their flat lay.

When asked about wedding cake trends she predicts for the rest of 2024, below were her answers.

Yes, we have all chosen that white traditional cake with fresh flowers cascading down, that will always remain a classic choice. But in a sea of uniformity, let’s dare to choose something refreshingly unique. In 2024 let’s bring out all the inspirations! It can be your wedding dress, a favorite color, an object from your childhood, your love story, whatever it may be, that inspiration can be used to craft a gorgeous artistic cake — a wedding cake that is truly unique to you telling your story. Reintroducing artistry into wedding cake designs will be trending this year.
Elevated Wedding Cake Flavors
You’ve chosen that beautiful artistic cake, but what about the inside? What about the cake flavor? A wedding cake should not only dazzle with its appearance but delight everyone with its taste. This is your chance to opt for a truly distinctive cake flavor, one that guests remember and talk about for days. In 2024, let’s set aside the plain vanilla and the chocolate. Indulge in chocolate with a passion fruit gelee or a pistachio cake with earl gray mousse. There are so many flavors to be explored and we will be going bold with flavors this year!

To get insight into the world of live painting, we reached out to the talented Stephen of Popadich Art out of Charleston, SC. Having been an artist for over 25 years, Stephen has mastered the art of painting and capturing moments live on-site. Listed below are two trends he sees for 2024 live wedding paintings.
Full Customization
One trend that Stephen sees on the horizon is the full customization of the painting. With this, the couple would choose the color tones, scene, and sentimental objects to be placed inside the painting. He wrote, “I always remind couples that the painting is a work of art that tells a story of their day and not just a picture of it.”
Using live painters as a form of entertainment
Another trend that is being seen is that couples are equally as interested in the entertainment factor of live painters as the actual painting itself. Guests enjoy checking in on the painter to watch the image evolve plus interact with the painter and ask questions as they work. This creates a “wonderful vibe” for the wedding day as the guests and couple excitedly watch the final painting come to life.

Pearls with no lace
“Vintage” styles are all the rage now in various industries, and pearls are one classic bridal look that are making their way back – just with a modern approach. Pearls covering gowns rather than lace or other details is one trend Atlanta Street Bridal Company is expecting to see more of in 2024.
Basque waist and brocade fabric
Mostly used on a-line and ballgrown cut wedding gowns, the basque waist design is another thing expected to be on the rise this year. This design gives off that princess vibe that many brides love. The brocade fabric pairs beautifully with it and is a very couture look. They noted that this fabric design is a great alternative for the bride who doesn’t love lace but wants some detail!
